The Green Bay Packers have everything to play for, the Minnesota Vikings have only one thing to play for – spoil the Packers’ playoff hopes. It has become increasingly clear and I think even mentioned by a player or two, that this week is the Vikings Super Bowl. Fortunately for the Packers the Vikings are 0-4 in Super Bowls.
That being said, if the Packers are expecting a cake walk, they will get beat. The Vikings may be down but until they are knocked out they will be swinging with everything they have left, and the old gunslinger can still fire people up to play well even if he himself can’t play well. Of course just two weeks ago the OG set a personal best for yards passing in a game, so the fact is he’s not done yet.
I’m still feeling confident the Packers can get the job done, but the Packers have taken better teams into the House of Horrors and lost, nothing is a given. The key to the game is pretty much the same as the first meeting, get pressure on Favre. Adrian Peterson will get his yards but he won’t turn the ball over like Favre will, and trying to just shut down Peterson will let Favre have all day to throw and that to me is worse than Peterson getting his hundred yards.
The Packers need this game to stay tied with the Bears, who are pumping their chests after shutting out the Dolphins last night. The Bears are starting to get cocky, something I haven’t seen from the Packers after winning three games in a row. Well, that is not counting @JermichaelF88 who Tweeted “the Vikings are done, let’s stick a fork in them next week.” Leave it to a guy not playing to post bulletin board material. Nothing like writing checks somebody else has to cash.
Finley is right though, and I’m sure that is the feeling in the Packers’ locker room. The question is are the Packers good enough and have their heads on straight enough to go over there and put the nail in the coffin. For me a Packers win would be a dream come true and a storybook ending on the whole Brett Favre affair. A loss and Favre gets last laugh and the Vikings have new life with the Packers having to visit Atlanta next week. Not a pretty scenerio.
Like I said, I feel pretty good about our chances, but upon further analysis, the pressure is much more on the Packers than the Vikings. It might be the Packers playing tight, and if that happens the season will be on the brink once again. You gotta love the NFL.
