The Minnesota Vikings threw a wrench in o the proceedings this weekend by beating the Eagles last night. The Bears won’t admit it but their motivation to beat the Packers Sunday just dwindled big time.
It sucks being in the position the Packers are in, needing to win to make the playoffs, but with all the injuries considered the Packers are doing pretty good. The Bears have not lost a starter on either side of the ball, the Packers have lost seven starters and 14 total players to season ending injuries, not to mention the games lost to Cullen Jenkins, Clay Matthews and Aaron Rogers.
The Bears say they will play all-out Sunday and I’m sure they will. They just might not be playing starters the whole game. The first time Julius Peppers or Jay Cutler limps leaving a pile there will be a mass exodus of starters.
The Bears aren’t stupid, and hopefully the Packers aren’t either. Just because the Bears have nothing to play for doesn’t mean the Packers will roll Sunday. In fact, I wish the Eagles would have won last night. Now the Packers might think they have a cakewalk.
The Packers need to come out with the same intensity they had against the Giants. Jump on the Bears early and they will start thinking about resting guys. The Packers no longer have to worry about playing them two weeks in a row, so they can go all out.
I have to say I would have been more confident had the Eagles won, now the Packers face major embarrassment if they lose to a team not even trying to win. I might have to quit my day job if that happens.
Confidence is pretty high, it’s not a playoff game so I think McCarthy can win this one. If they do win, it will be a great chess match in Philly in two weeks. But don’t count your chickens before they are hatched, first things first. Beat the Bears!
(forgive me for any typos tonight, might have had a few cocktails, but that is not the reason. I’m trying out my new iPad, one of my family members apparently makes too much money)
