After the Bears, with the 19th pick, took the linebacker the Packers probably really wanted in Shea McClellin, the Packers settled for Nick Perry with the 28th pick. Perry played defensive end at USC but was drafted to start at linebacker opposite Clay Matthews. Looking at who was left on the board I find it hard to believe that the Packers really and truly believe he was the “best player available” as Thompson always says. I’m doubt he was even the best defensive player available. Either way, I’m OK with the pick.
