The Green Bay Packers have returned to work following their bye week and it looks like they may get a few of their injured players back in the fold as well. Eddie Lacy was a full go today and Morgan Burnett also returned to practice. Still questionable though is Jermichael Finley and Casey Heyward.
The Packers face a crucial NFC Central North contest against the Detroit Lions Sunday at Lambeau Field. Like last year the Packers face a must win in their fourth game of the year. With the Lions taking over first place in the division by whipping the Bears Sunday Green Bay Packers tickets from Titletown may be hard to come by this week.
I think if the Packers can win this game they might be able to get on a roll. The schedule all of a sudden doesn’t look as tough as it did before the year. In fact going into this game the Packers only face two teams that currently have winning records and they are the Lions and Bears.
Teams like the Ravens, Giants, Falcons and Steelers suddenly don’t look as tough as we thought. Hopefully the Packers can avoid falling into that group with a win over the Lions, who haven’t won in Green Bay in 22 years. That fact is worrisome itself as the Lions have already won in Washington this year for the first time in 60 years. Streaks come to an end.
Not ready to make a prediction yet but I do think a win by the Packers, barring any more hamstring injuries, could jump-start the season. They have four of the next six games at home. 5-1 over that stretch and I would feel pretty good.
I think we will find out a lot about the Packers on Sunday. The Lions are no slouch.
