It appears at least one player on the Packers’ much maligned defense is sick and tired of being called soft. Defensive lineman Mike Daniels made it perfectly clear he’s not going to stand around and let teams punch him in the mouth any longer.
Entering his third season Daniels has taken it upon himself to step and be a leader on defense that could definitely use some toughness. The Packers know what a mean defense looks like having lost to the San Francisco 49ers three times in the last two years. If that Packers can achieve that level of meanness things will most definitely be looking up defensively at 1265 Lombardi Avenue.
It was a big-play, aggressive defense coupled with Aaron Rodgers’ coming out party that propelled the Packers to the Super Bowl title four years ago. Since then they have been struggled mightely. Daniels thinks that is about to change.
While his words may sound harsh in this new politically correct locker room era, it’s just what the Packers need and he knows it. If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen. I’m all for it. Mean on Sunday once again.
