The Green Bay Packers have another opportunity to make a statement by beating an NFC team with a winning record in a game that could have huge playoff ramifications. So far this season the only winning team the Packers have beaten has been the Miami Dolphins.
With NFC losses to Seattle, Detroit and New Orleans, the Packers need this game big time. It won’t be easy against the fast paced offense of the Eagles, who makes the Packers’ no huddle offense look like mud. The Packers’ defense has not held up well in these situations since winning the Super Bowl, so even after last week’s great game against Chicago, one can only be cautiously optimistic.
What worries me even more than the Eagles offense is the Eagles special teams. The Packers gave up a kickoff return against the Bears and now face one of the best punt returners ever in Darren Sproles, who has two punt return TDs already this year. If the Packers let him get a third their chances of winning drop drastically.
I think if the Packers can protect Aaron Rodgers and not give up eight sacks to the Eagles like the Panthers did last week, the Packers should be able to score plenty of points. On defense the Packers did hold the Eagles to 27 points last year when Nick Foles was in his prime, so there is some hope. If the Eagles only score 27 this year I think they lose.
With that said, I sure hate to jinx the Packers, but I just have a feeling they pull this one out. Be scared, Packernet nation, be really scared. Packers 33, Eagles 30.
