The Green Bay Packers are a battered club right now, but head coach Mike McCarthy promised “a healthy 46” for Sunday. He just didn’t say who that 46 will include. It likely won’t include defensive tackle B.J. Raji or linebacker Nick Perry. It might not include offensive lineman T.J. Lang or safety Morgan Burnett. Next man up hasn’t meant this much since 2010.
Sunday the Packers face the 2-3 San Diego Chargers and are currently a 10 point favorite to enter their bye week with a perfect 6-0 record. The schedule so far for the Packers could have not be more forgiving. At a time when they are being pressed to limit by injury they at least have been able to play four out of six games at home. They can squeeze out as much treatment as possible.
I have a feeling the Packers’ offense is going to get untracked a little this week. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers called for the offense to pick up the pace a little and I think that is a good idea. Time to up the tempo and hopefully add in a few deeper pass plays to soften up the running lanes. If the defense can rise to the occasion the Packers should be able to pull out another win. I’ll say 27-17 Packers.
