The Green Bay Packers’ season hangs in the balance Sunday at Minnesota and we will find out a whole lot about the Packers’ players’ pride. After losing to two tough teams in Denver and Carolina, the Packers played their worst game of the season last week in losing to the Detroit Lions in Lambeau Field. Embarrassed does not describe that loss.
There is no excuse for an Aaron Rodgers led team to lose to a one win team that hasn’t won in Lambeau in 24 years. Brett Favre never lost to Lions at home and there is no way Rodgers should have either. If that wasn’t the wake-up call needed for Rodgers and the Packers I don’t know what is.
The Packers have fallen from Super Bowl favorites too unlikely to make the playoffs if you listen to the pundits. Those pundits may well be right. If the Packers lose Sunday a wildcard berth is their only hope of making the playoffs. But I think Sunday is the beginning of the big push. The Packers will play good football from here on out.
I don’t know why, but I have a good feeling about this game. The Packers will go into the game with only four receivers and newly activated Justin Perillo as their best tight end. How Perillo lost a job to Kennard Backman in training camp is beyond the intelligent level of most NFL followers. But I digress.
I just think the Vikings, while certainly on the rise, are not quite ready for prime time. And I don’t think the Packers are dead just yet. Green Bay 26, Minnesota 17.
