The Green Bay Packers have won four straight NFC North Division championships but today face their stiffest test yet as they try to get that elusive fifth straight title. This is the third straight year the division will be decided in the last week of the season with the Packers having beaten the Bears in Chicago two years ago and Detroit in Lambeau last year.
The big difference this year is the Packers’ makeshift offense is not playing well, ranking near the bottom of the league in passing and have been very hit-or-miss in rushing. For the Packers to win today running backs Eddie Lacy and James Starks will have to carry the load for the Packers’ disjointed passing game. If Lacy goes over 100 yards again today I think the Packers can win, if not, Aaron Rodgers will be lucky to finish the game upright.
As much as I want it to happen I just can’t see the Packers pulling this one out. The Vikings are young and hungry and playing good football. The Packers may still be young but offensively are playing horribly and there is no “Easy Button” they can hit to turn things around. Maybe last week’s beatdown by Arizona will fire them up a little but will it be enough to beat the Vikings? I’m guessing not.
I think the streak comes to an end in a 20-17 loss as the Packers get swept at home by the Lions, Vikings and Bears for the first time since 1968. It’s on to Washington for a wildcard playoff and probably the end of the season for the Packers.
