I have to say, I don’t believe there has been a week like this since head coach Mike McCarthy took over the team in 2006. Never before have there been questions about the quarterback play, not when you have Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers under center. After last week’s loss to the Vikings, I think the proverbial fit has hit the sham.
Rodgers was incredibly testy with the media this week, even more so than his normal arrogant self, calling them out for criticizing the Packers’ offense, which is certainly a valid question. Rodgers can say what he wants about us not knowing what play is called and who is f*&jking up but I disagree. This is the same offense they have been running for years, I might as well as be calling plays. And if I can see it, NFL defensive coordinators can see it.
The Packers’ defense again played out of it’s mind last week, holding the Vikings to 17 points, a number that the Packers’ offense should easily eclipse against any opponent. Sunday the Packers will be facing a defense they should be able to light up, especially at home. If Rodgers and the offense struggle again I think it might be time to at least give Brett Hundley a series or two. Yes, it would shock the world, but winning games is the most important thing. Right?
Rodgers was at his condescending best this week with the media. Basically calling them idiots and by association, us fans. If Rodgers stinks up Lambeau Field again Sunday he will be public enemy number one. You can put up with that attitude when you are winning, but not so much when you are losing.
So with that said, here is what I think is going to happen Sunday. I was thinking shootout earlier this week but I don’t think the Packers can win a shootout. I still the Packers are going to win this game. I think the Packers’ defense, even without Clay Matthews and Sam Shields, will do enough to keep the Lions in check.
A couple of Lions’ turnovers will turn the tide and the Packers’ lifeless offense will scrounge out a 24-20 win.
