Coaching staff under pressure after ugly loss

The Green Bay Packers were beat to a pulp despite the 26-17 final score. I knew the New Orleans Saints were going to be tough to beat with backup quarterback Brett Hundley making his first NFL start. I didn’t think it would be this ugly.

Last week head coach Mike McCarthy went ballistic when asked about his quarterbacks and if he should bring in somebody else. He praised his ‘quarterback room’ saying it’s exactly “where it needs to be”. Apparently not. His quarterback room threw for 87 yards today. Not great. NFL betting is likely dropping the Packers into New York Jets territory. What a difference a play makes.

McCarthy has two weeks to get ready for a must win game against the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football in Lambeau on November sixth. If the Packers lay an egg like they did today, McCarthy could very well be a dead man walking. At some point you have to win a game without a hall of fame quarterback. The Bears won today with a quarterback that went 4-7 for 107 yards.

The Packers needed all aspects of their team to step their game up and none did. It’s amazing how bad the Packers’ special teams still are. Doesn’t matter so much when Aaron Rodgers is under center. But they stood out big time like today. McCarthy doesn’t care about special teams. Why would you when you have a great quarterback?

I have to say I am very disappointed with the all around effort of the Packers today. The defense was absolutely pitiful, which, I guess we are used to under Dom Capers. Usually the offense can overcome it. If Capers’ defense continues to perform like it today the Packers have no chance of overcoming Rodgers’ injury.

Sad to say, the haters might be right. The Packers can’t win without Favre or Rodgers.
