The Green Bay Packers 2017 season passed away quietly yesterday afternoon following complications from a broken collarbone. It was a short illness and the deceased was surrounded by 80,000 friends and family at the time of passing. Survivors include…
OK, the Packers are not done yet, there are six games left and the Packers will have to win five of them to have a chance at the playoffs. If they play like they did yesterday they won’t win another game. NFL betting odds for the Packers season are dropping like a rock. At some locations the Packers are already 14.5 point underdogs next week in Pittsburgh. Is this 1974 again?
It sure looked like the 70s with the way the Packers played offense. After showing signs of improvement in beating the Bears last week, quarterback Brett Hundley didn’t take a step back yesterday, he stepped back a mile. Packers’ fans haven’t seen that kind of quarterback play since the John Hadl days. It was crazy bad. Hundley is a turnover machine with no feel for the pocket and a coach who can’t seem to find a game plan to make him successful. Not exactly a recipe for success.
Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh admitted after the game they were not worried about Hundley in the least. They knew exactly where Hundley was going to throw the ball so basically all they had to do was shut down the Packers’ running game and they win handily. Mission accomplished. You can bet the Steelers are salivating as well. This could be a beatdown of epic proportions.
On the bright side the Packers defense played really well. With just average quarterback play the Packers win easy. It was the second straight good performance by the defense, but one has to factor in the opponents. The Bears and Ravens aren’t exactly juggernauts. The Steelers will be a real test.
I think getting to 8-8 would be a huge accomplishment, but I don’t see it happening. With no football in January, it’s going to be a long winter in Green Bay.
