The Green Bay Packers did exactly what they were supposed to do today and handily beat the injury riddled San Francisco 49ers. They scored on their opening drive and were never really threatened in a 38-10 win at Lambeau Field.
The Packers didn’t exactly light up the NFL’s fourth-ranked defense but they did take advantage of pretty much every opportunity they were given. The defense had three turnovers and a big turnover on downs on the first drive of the third quarter. This after the 49ers had pulled to 17-7 right before halftime.
Lombardi would have loved this team
Nothing against Showtime, who the Packers are still trailing in the division, but I am just loving this Josh Jacobs guy. The man is a beast and seems to be getting stronger as the season goes on. He just pounds the ball and like Beastmode himself says when that happens over and over and over and over and over again it wears a defense down. Jacobs makes the Packers a team primed for December football. Four of the Packers final six games are outdoor games.
One thing I wish the Packers had was a true go-to guy at wide receiver. Just when you think Christian Watson can be that guy he drops a perfect pass that would have been a 49-yard touchdown pass. It’s not killing them but it would be nice to have that one guy you can trust to always be open and catch the ball.
Jordan Love finally didn’t officially throw an interception but came close once. He didn’t have the greatest completion percentage but was under duress for much of the day. And it seems taking the ball out of Love’s hands and putting it in Jacob’s hands in the red zone works really well.
It was a win the Packers had to have and they got it convincingly. There is no time rest, however, with a red hot Miami Dolphins coming to town on Thanksgiving. That should be a dandy.
