The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears have played a lot of games, 201 to be exact. I’ve been around for 113 of them. Most of them were not that memorable, at least not until 1992 when a certain gunslinger game to town and turned the tables on the rivalry. Since then, Brett Favre and his successor, Aaron Rodgers have owned the Bears. Especially in Chicago where the Packers have won 21 of the last 26 games.
While there have been bigger games than the upcoming matchup on Sunday, those are not necessarily on top of my list of favorite Packers-Bears games. So instead of looking ahead I’m going to look back. Here are a couple of my favorite Packers-Bears games.

Packers 33, Bears 28 – Dec 29, 2013 – I like this one because it was such a punch to the face of the Bears and their fans. The Bears had broken Aaron Rodgers’ collarbone in the teams first meeting of the year and Rodgers missed every game until the finale. Somehow the Packers stayed afloat in a down year for the division and this game was for the division title.
Rodgers was rusty and threw an interception on the Packers’ first two drives. But he got better as the game went on and with the score 28-27 Bears, the Packers took over on their 13 with 6:24 left. Amazingly it took them 14 plays just to get across midfield, including two fourth-and-one conversions. Then facing another fourth down at the Bears’ 48, Rodgers pulled off the miracle, with a little help from John Kuhn, that is. Kuhn chipped Julius Peppers just enough to allow Rodgers to find a wide open Randall Cobb for the touchdown. Bears’ defensive back Chris Conte let Cobb run right by him on the play. It was a thing of beauty. One Jay Cutler interception later and the Packers were division champs.

Packers 55, Bears 14 – Nov. 9, 2014 – Loved this one right from the start. The Packers scored touchdowns on their first five drives and led 42-0 at halftime. It was a route of epic preparations and that is always fun when it’s against your arch rival. Rodgers threw six touchdown passes in the first half before the Packers called off the dogs. The Bears were not a very good team that year but that doesn’t diminish the enjoyment I get from the Packers kicking their butts. The Bears beat the Packers once by the score of 61-7.
The game had a crazy ending to the scoring. With ten minutes left Packers’ cornerback Casey Hayward returned an interception 82 yards for a touchdown. On the ensuing kickoff the Bears Chris Williams went 101 with the kickoff return. Packers special teams sucked back then, too.
Other games would include the NFC Championship game in 2011, the Instant Replay game, and the Favre five touchdown game playing on one leg, and of course the Chester Marcol Miracle. There are a lot of losses that are memorable, as well, but we won’t talk about those.
