After to listening to the comments from media day yesterday I have come to believe this is the most respectful rivalry in the history of sports. The Packers-Bears love-fest so far this week has been hilarious.
Other than the Bears backup tight end Kellen Davis guaranteeing victory the trash talk has not been good. Where are Mike Ditka and Forrest Gregg when you need them?
All week it’s been “he’s a great player and they have a great team and we are going to have to be at our best to win” when the players are asked about their opponent. I think both teams are leery of giving the other any added motivation in a game this big so they are taking the high road this week.
Even my hardcore Bears’ fan coworker has been unusually quiet this week. Of course, the Bears win over the lowly Seahawks was hardly awe inspiring. On the other side of the fence hindsight shows the Packers’ win over Atlanta should have been expected. The Falcons’ defense is not very good and when given a weak defense and perfect conditions Aaron Rodgers will rip anybody apart. The Bears defense won’t be giving up 48 points I promise you that.
The Packers are three-and-half point favorites but right now it is too close to call for me. The Bears are a great team and the Packers will have to play their best game of the season to win it.
Go Pack!
